Design Process
Key elements like the MIT dome, symbolizing innovation and education, were integrated into the design. The semi-circle at the top of the logo represents the iconic dome of MIT, a symbol of technological advancement and academic excellence. The incorporation of negative space to form the "H" alludes to Harvard, paying homage to its rich heritage in leadership and management education. The shield, traditionally associated with protection and security, aligns with the conference's focus on national security, conveying a sense of safety and resilience.
Color Choice
The color scheme of the logo is dominated by the crimson, a color deeply associated with both Harvard and MIT. This choice was intentional to evoke a sense of tradition, prestige, and academic excellence. Maroon is a powerful color that signifies strength, reliability, and wisdom, aligning perfectly with the conference's themes of technology and national security.
The use of maroon also creates a strong visual identity, making the logo instantly recognizable and distinct. It exudes a sense of seriousness and gravitas, essential for a conference dealing with critical issues such as national security. The monochromatic palette helps maintain a clean and professional look, avoiding unnecessary distractions and emphasizing the core elements of the design.
Typography
Sans serif fonts like "Outfit" are known for their clean, minimalist lines and lack of ornamental details, making them highly legible and versatile across various mediums. This straightforward and modern approach to typography aligns well with the forward-thinking nature of both HBS and MIT, which are known for their emphasis on innovation and progressive thinking.
